of Connecticut Department of Public Works Bureau of Design and Construction The Connecticut Department of Public Works (DPW) will hire several Assistant Project Managers and several Associate Project Managers during 2008. The Assistant Project Manager positions are Salary Grade 26 - starting salary, $58,632 per year. The Associate Project Manager positions are Salary Grade 29 - starting salary, $65,267 per year. These positions are based in Hartford, CT and are 35 hours per week. The DPW is responsible for the design and construction of nearly all major capital facilities projects, leasing and property acquisitions for most state agencies. The department also assists agencies and departments with long-term facilities planning. The position duties are: Acts as an assistant to a Public Works Project Manager; participates in architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, civil or telecommunications projects; consults with project managers, supervising project manages, consultants, architects, engineers and other design reviewers; performs specialized duties in coordinating general construction; audits and approves monthly requisitions for work completed; may represent project managers at job meetings; may prepare and maintain construction records and reports; performs related duties as required. (Pay Plan: Assistant Project Managers - ES - 26, Class Code 6569 or Associate Project Managers - ES - 29, Class Code 1556) Minimum Qualifications Required - Considerable knowledge of principles, practices and methods of architectural or engineering design; knowledge of building materials and codes; knowledge of contractual documentation; considerable oral and written communication skills; considerable ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
